Summer Fun

Wow! It's been a busy busy summer for us. Last year our summer "sucked" for lack of a better word, but this year it's gorgeous and it seems we're cramming in everything we missed out on last summer into this one!
Here are a few photos of what we've been up to lately.

Hailie opening more birthday presents.

She just loves her new doll from Great Grandma Stella

Shelby teaching Hailie different colors. She's so smart already and for the most part can pick out the color you ask for.

Hailie helping Shelby and I clear out the yard. We'v started clearing out the back part of our acre lot in hopes of having a few goats and chickens on the other side of the garage. We made about 10 trips to the back yard fire pit in the drizzling rain and Hailie just loved it!

Shelby's been doing a lot of this....

by a lot of these.

We've had so many wonderful nights by the fire and the bugs aren't too bad this year...even in this heat!
Hope you're getting out there and enjoying your summer too! It will be gone before we know it.

Rustic Blessings Primitive Shop

My youngest daughter and I decided to take a ride to a Primitive shop I’ve been wanting to visit. I’m sure glad I did! The owner, Meredith, was so nice and friendly. We hit it off right away . There aren’t too many people up here that get the whole primitive decor thing so I was happy to finally find someone who does.
Here are a few photos of her shop. It’s located a few minutes out of the small village of South River Ontario. She has a beautiful farm with 2 buildings that she uses for her store that, to my delight, were filled to the brim with prim!
rb1
I fell in love with the small hutch outside her shop but sadly, it wasn’t for sale.
rb2
She’s decorated it beautifully with all the prim goodies for sale. She even has some of the Gooseberry Patch cookbooks that I can never find in Canada!

She even let me take her photo. She’s new to the blogging world and you can visit her blog here http://rusticblessings.blogspot.com/
rb6
Shelby, being the animal lover she is, asked if we could visit her llamas she spotted out in the field. Meredith was kind enough to let us and she told us about her pot belly pig that she had out back that we of course had to visit :) What a cutie pie!
rb7
This llama came running towards us as soon as he saw us coming. He was very entertaining and even smiled for us a few times. There were also some pygmy goats but the photos of them didn’t turn out well.

Here’s the view she gets to see everyday from her yard. God’s country for sure!

Baby and her 1st taste of Ice Cream Cake from DQ

My birthday was last week and I enjoyed the evening with family by taking a ride in my parent's boat and having a BBQ. My oldest daughter brought the food and cooked it so I didn't have to :) (a break from cooking is always nice) My parents got me an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen so desert was taken care of too! Hubby did the dishes while I enjoyed the bonfire in our backyard. Here are a couple of pics of Grandbaby with her first taste of ice cream cake and her first boat ride. It was a wonderful day even though my age number went up another notch! It's just a number though, right?

New Labels and Feedsack Labels

In between all the BBQ's, fireworks, bonfires, and summertime enjoyin', I managed to get a few new items created this past weekend. In the midst of all this sunshine and heat, my mind is stuck in Fall mode. Fall is my favorite time of the year and I savor every tiny morsel of it! Whenever I'm in a creative rut, all I have to do is think Fall, Halloween, and Christmas to get the creative juices flowing again. Now that the tap is turned on and things are flowing again, I'll be creating like crazy from now until Christmas when I'll slow down and take a break again. And since I'm feeling a bit better, I hope to do a few craft shows this year and maybe set up a booth this Fall at a local indoor market. Here are a few new labels that I made on the weekend and I hope to make some feedsacks with them tonight or tomorrow.

The 2 above labels can be found on my site here www.countrycabin.ca Thanks to Karen at The Graphics Fairy for the ribbon border on the first one!
